What if I can't get over it

There's just too much
that is missing
when I put the pieces back together
the warped shadows of my puzzle
look nothing like I remember.
I want to forgive you
for what you lay beneath my heart
but it keeps on coming after as I run from it

someone was in your heart while I held you in my arms
someone who could make you whole..
how do I just forget that
when the pieces can't look
anything as they once did.

worried by my warped frustrations
wanting to die right her
I become blackbird-instead of human
so my heartbeats faster. still it will stop
and my missing pieces will haunt me
until they haunt you too.
